Bodies arranging training and education shall provide equal opportunities for education and occupational advancement for women and men.
The Equality Act puts educational institutions under an obligation to draw up an annual gender equality plan with the aim of developing the operation of the educational institution, as a collaborative effort involving staff and student representatives. This obligation does not apply to comprehensive schools. The Act includes provisions on the contents of these plans. Negligence of the obligation is sanctioned.
The Ombudsman for Equality has compiled the minimum requirements, as well as noteworthy recommendations, for gender equality planning in educational institutions.
