In Finland, discrimination is also prohibited under other legislation. The Finnish Constitution states that nobody shall be discriminated against on the grounds of sex, age, origin, language, religion, conviction, opinion, health, disability or other reason that concerns her/his person.
The Non-Discrimination Act bans discrimination on the basis of age, ethnic or national origin, nationality, language, religion, belief, opinion, health, disability, sexual orientation or other personal characteristics.
There are also bans on discrimination in the acts on employment relationships, and the Finnish Penal Code contains provisions on work discrimination and discrimination in areas such as trade and the exercise of official authority.
