Prohibitions issued by the Finnish Equality Board

The Finnish Equality Board can prohibit anyone who has violated the anti-discrimination provisions of the Finnish Equality Act from continuing or repeating the discriminatory practice. If necessary, the Finnish Equality Board can reinforce the prohibition by imposing penalty of a fine.

Individuals cannot bring cases to the Finnish Equality Board but must consult the Finnish Ombudsman for Equality instead. The Finnish Ombudsman for Equality can refer cases involving violations of the anti-discrimination provisions of the Finnish Equality Act to the Finnish Equality Board. Confederations of labour market organisations also have the right to bring cases.
